Three days of the week were named after mythological Norse Gods. Wednesday was originally called Wodin's Day or "Odin's Day". Thursday is from Thor's Day, Odin's son. Friday is from the goddess Frigg, Odin's wife. Odin is a mythological Norse God who originated from Germanic tribes who existed at the time of the Romans. The Vikings worshipped Odin as the All Father and the god of war. Odin was the ruler and co-creator of the universe. Odin likes pets and animals. Odin has a mighty horse named Sleipner. Sleipner has eight legs and is the fastest war horse in the universe. Odin has two large black wolves named Freke and Gere. Odin also has two pet ravens; their names are Hugin and Munin, otherwise known as thought and memory. According to myth, Odin removed one of his own eyes as a sacrifice in order to gain wisdom. This is why the store logo has only one eye. Odin's Cosmic Bookshelf and Odin's Comics are open 360 days per year. The only time Odin's is closed in on New Year's Day, July 4th, Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas. It has been the customer's of Odin's that kept our doors open for all these wonderful years. Odin has two sons, Thor (God of Thunder) and Loki (God of Fire and Mischief). You don't want to get any of them mad at you. |
